The Season of the Lamb
by Susan Pollet
Reading the news has become a violent act against the temple, our bodies, such that each transgression prompts a wish that the meek shall inherit the earth not just in the afterlife, but now, while the bullies bloom, and the sinners sin, the righteous are ridiculed, and the Pope is one of the few making any sense as he postulates about a better world in this, the season of the lamb
Quartered No More
by Susan Pollet
This was the quarter where they lived, this was the quarter where they thrived at one time, but now there are none or 100 or less but not in the quarter not in the city, not in the town Their history resides in a museum now because there is no present They were dislodged, forced to leave made to abandon their past and possessions Other houses of worship proliferate while they are quartered no more
